Happold Trust 10 Year Strategy Review
The Happold Trust was established in 1995 by the late Sir Ted Happold and the founding partners of Buro Happold.
Ted and the Founding Partners had always believed that a firm such as Buro Happold exists to support the needs of Society beyond its immediate activity as a professional practice in the Built Environment. The Happold Trust is therefore a registered charity with an independent Board of Trustees, some of whom also work for Buro Happold.
It was originally founded from the transfer of shares from Ted Happold and subsequent funding is now provided by a percentage of the profits of Happold LLP.
The Buro Happold logo was created for the new firm in 1976 by the late Alan Fletcher of Pentagram as a start up present to his friend Ted. So in 1996 David Hillman, also of Pentagram, generously designed the Happold Trust logo.
In the decade since the Trust was set up, much has changed - not least that Buro Happold as principal sponsor of the Happold Trust has grown in size and reputation. Increasingly well resourced, the Trust has an opportunity to add a greater strategic dimension to its work, by joining with other groups to create a larger impetus for change.
