The Royal Academy of Engineers Visiting Professors Scheme aims to raise the standards of education for undergraduates in Building Engineering Physics by placing visiting professors in key universities.
Four Visiting Professors in Building Engineering Physics have been funded under the scheme, which is supported by the Happold Trust, Ian Ritchie Architects, Hoare Lea, Ove Arup Trust and DSSR. To date, Bath, Bristol, Cambridge and Sheffield Universities have benefitted from the program.
The concept behind the scheme is that the engineering undergraduate curriculum can be significantly improved by appointing senior industrial engineers as visiting lecturers.
The findings from the Visiting Professors scheme can be found in Doug King's report, "Engineering a low carbon environment".
